A dress watch made in Switzerland between the 1940s and the 1950s, when the mid-century movement was taking hold.
$1,500.00
OVERVIEW
Although its 35mm diameter was relatively large by the standards of its day, the gently extending teardrop lugs keep the lug-to-lug length to 38.3mm, providing a stable fit on the wrist.
The dial’s two-tone composition pairs a warm champagne center with a silver outer ring, defining two distinct zones through a restrained contrast of color.
The Roman numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock and the remaining square indexes are all mirror-finished, revealing distinct reflections depending on the angle of the light.
However, finishing issues arising from the welding process that joins the lugs to the case, or traces of later repair, have been observed, so please be sure to examine this area carefully in the attached detail photos before purchasing.
A dress watch made in Switzerland between the 1940s and the 1950s, when the mid-century movement was taking hold.
The dial’s two-tone composition pairs a warm champagne center with a silver outer ring, defining two distinct zones through a restrained contrast of color. Vertical brushing across the center contrasts with concentric grooves in the small-seconds register at 6 o’clock, where a fine needle hand completes the display. The Roman numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock and the remaining square indexes are all mirror-finished, revealing distinct reflections depending on the angle of the light. Small spots of patina are visible on the outer dial, particularly around the 3–5 o’clock area.
It features a three-piece case construction in stainless steel. Although its 35mm diameter was relatively large by the standards of its day, the gently extending teardrop lugs keep the lug-to-lug length to 38.3mm, providing a stable fit on the wrist. A coin-edge crown with a dense, serrated profile improves ease of operation, and the overall thickness, including the glass, is 8mm, maintaining a slim silhouette. However, finishing issues arising from the welding process that joins the lugs to the case, or traces of later repair, have been observed, so please be sure to examine this area carefully in the attached detail photos before purchasing.
It is difficult to state definitively the exact caliber name that the Arcadia brand assigned internally, but given its structural features and specifications, the movement is understood to be based on the FEF Cal. 210 ébauche. Inside, a 15-jewel mechanical movement uses manual winding. Under The Left Watch’s inspection, Korea’s finest watchmakers have expertly serviced this watch, with a recorded rate of −6 seconds per day, amplitude of 220° and beat error of 0.3 ms.
The available record does not specify any included box or accessories.
A handmade micro-stitch strap made by The Left Watch is attached.
